Bageshwar Dham Sarkar – A Scientific Perspective
Chapter 1: Is Shri Dhirendra Krishna Shastri Scientifically Comprehensible?
Although
almost everyone talks about science, very few people are aware of the
characteristics of science. They assume that whatever is done in a laboratory
comes under the realm of science. They look for a test tube everywhere they go.
They rarely understand the complexities of the subject matter of science.
When
they say science what science are they talking about?
First
of all, they need to understand that there are several sciences. Science refers
to the methodology where objectivity and rationality are present. When nature
manifests itself in myriad ways, there is a need for new sciences to evolve and
prosper. Just because someone has no idea about a particular branch of science,
they can’t negate the information available.
You
can’t give a microscope to an astrophysicist and ask him to study the solar
system.
Each
branch of science has its methodology and corresponding tools to investigate
the formulated hypotheses.
Those
who talk about science have very little understanding of the intricacies of
scientific methods. They are stuck with the limited knowledge that is outdated
and outmoded. They think a single set of methods can be applied to study all
aspects of science.
I
prefer to call these people “WIPs” – Well-informed Ignorant Persons. They know
about certain things in so much detail but become suddenly ignorant of other
matters.
Indian
knowledge systems are far more advanced than modern science.
The propaganda machine has worked so well for the last millennium to supersede traditional systems as outdated and primitive. However, science subjects are picking up now to understand the rituals and practices systematically.
Let
us consider a few examples.
Example 1
In
an earlier class in school, we study that an atom is indivisible. In a later
class in school suddenly we are told that an atom can be divided into its
subatomic particles and quite later we are taught that even an electron is
divisible. In one class I got full marks for writing that an atom is
indivisible and in another class the same answer was wrong.
So,
what the WIPs should know is that changes occur in scientific understanding as
more information becomes available.
Maharshi
Kanada, who propounded the atomic theory, may have lived in the 6th
to 2nd Century BCE. He talks about particles thousands of years
before modern scientists did.
Example 2
To show that light travels in a straight line, our teachers demonstrated to us a pin-hole camera. Then suddenly the scientists came out with different explanations: Light travels in the form of electromagnetic waves; Light travels in particles called photons; Light travels in wave particles.
Some
so-called science specialists do not understand that the understanding of
nature changes as tools get sophisticated. Just because an explanation is
provided that light travels in wave particles, the other explanations can’t be
rejected saying that light has stopped traveling in a straight line.
Almost
a thousand years before the physicists said light travels in a straight line, a
temple was built in Karnataka, India, where one can see the pin-hole camera
demonstrated.
Watch the video below to see that Indians had a scientific understanding of nature at least a thousand years before the rest of the world did.
Example 3
Though modern science depends upon apparatuses to study nature, it is not yet sophisticated enough to explain what it observes. This is the reason why quantum physicists are quoting ancient Indian texts (especially the Upanishads) to delineate their understanding.
Thus,
Indians were ahead of the rest of the world in every aspect of science.
Thousands
of such examples can be shown to emphasize that India led the world in all aspects
of life.
Can
they be behind others in understanding the complexities of past, present, and
future?
You
can’t understand the complexity of nature by holding a torch in the darkness.
Modern
science studies nature in bits and pieces by shining the torchlight on each
aspect of science. However, sunlight is necessary to see everything clearly and
obtain a holistic picture. Indian sciences have achieved these centuries ago
and modern science is slowly attempting to catch up with it.
The
above examples show that modern science is dynamic and keeps changing in its
perspective as new tools, technology, methods, theories, and insights appear. Each
time modern science comes out with some discovery or finding, a parallel to
that can always be found in ancient Indian literature.
What Shri Dhirendra Krishna Shastri
does under the auspice of Bageshwar Dham Sarkar is explainable by a science
called Parapsychology.
These
phenomena have been studied, understood, and used since time immemorial all
over the world. Traditional sciences were not able to decipher such phenomena
and rejected them as unscientific. Their
methods and tools did not provide them with scope for understanding these
phenomena. Our WIPs are still stuck here.
Other
scientists are not qualified and equipped to nullify his feats as they have
very little knowledge of the Psychic phenomena. A person with expertise in one
branch of science can’t claim to be a custodian of all sciences. Today, it is
all about specialization and super specialization.
Formal
paranormal investigations started in 1882 in the modern Western world but it
took more than 85 years for it to be accepted as a scientific body of research.
Parapsychological Association was accepted as an affiliate in 1969 by the American
Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
"Miracles are not a contradiction of nature. They are only in contradiction of what we know of nature."
—
St. Augustine, City of God, XXI. 8.2
Parapsychology,
as a branch of science, uses stringent methods to conduct research and various
scientific peer-reviewed academic journals are reporting these findings. Please
go through the section on Parapsychology to
learn more about it.
What
Shri Dhirendra Krishna Shastri is doing may appear miraculous to the
uninitiated, but recent scientific studies have caught up so that they can be explained.
Different scientific explanations of Shri Dhirendra Krishna Shastri’s
accomplishments will be discussed in later chapters.
At
present, we can say that Shri Dhirendra Krishna Shastri of Bageshwar Dham is
scientifically comprehensible.
